Youth

Our youth programming offers opportunities for learning, fellowship, and mission to help build deeply rooted Christians who engage their faith in their daily lives.

Our youth program at Carter offers a nurturing environment for kids in 6th through 12th grades to grow together in their faith and commitment to Christ. Weekly youth Sunday school offers a space for middle and high school students to engage Scripture, ask questions, share experiences, work through problems, and foster a personal, relevant faith.

Youth Group In addition to weekly Sunday school, our youth have several opportunities to connect each month. One of the core tenets of our youth development approach is getting youth engaged in mission and outreach as a way to better understand and engage with the world around them. Youth hold their own mission events as well as participate in the mission life of the larger church. Ready for an adventure? Our youth are often busy rock climbing, ice skating, skiing or just hanging out together in a safe social environment that instills a strong sense of community while having a lot of fun!

Confirmation The Confirmation program is a class for students in sixth grade and older who are interested in exploring a more significant commitment to God and the Church. Students, their parents, and the Director of Youth work together to determine each youth's readiness for the program and to select an adult mentor to guide them through the process. The class focuses on faith development and preparation for adult participation in the congregation through discussion and experiential learning. Toward this end, we will cover basic Christian beliefs such as our United Methodist doctrines and history, baptism, Holy Communion, Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and the history of the Christian church. Confirmands work in both a large-group setting and individually with their mentor to explore these topics and to create a personal statement of faith. In the end, our hope is that our confirmands will be prepared to answer questions concerning their own faith development and readiness for church membership. Confirmands present their faith Credos to the congregation during a special Confirmation service held in the spring.
