Environmental Justice

"And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth." Genesis 1:28

On our Bookshelves
"Do not curse the deaf or put a stumbling block in front of the blind, but fear your God. I am the LORD." Leviticus 19:14

Carter Solar Project In the fall of 2019, Carter Memorial United Methodist Church installed a 47.45 KW Solar Array, consisting of 146 Solar Panels, which should supply about 44% of our electrical needs. During our renovation in 2014 we completed our conversion from Oil Heat by Steam to a greener Heat Pump / High Efficiency Gas Boiler system, while we also greatly improved our building insulation levels. Installation of our Solar Array reduces our Carbon footprint even further.

"You cannot protect the environment unless you empower people, you inform them, and you help them understand that these resources are their own, that they must protect them." -Prof. Wangari Maathai, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate

Additional Resources "All creation is the Lord's, and we are responsible for the ways in which we use and abuse it. Water, air, soil, minerals, energy resources, plants, animal life, and space are to be valued and conserved because they are God's creation and not solely because they are useful to human beings." - United Methodist Social Principles, 160
